The Story

Fall Sports are starting to end this week and next, so we need to recap this year so far.

How’d Football do?

Pretty good all things considered. The boys only lost 2 games this season, one against Nashua North, and the other against Keene. The team will have their first NHIAA game starting on November 5th, but they’ve still got one more regular season game on Friday against Merrimack. If you want to go watch, it starts at 7:00 pm at the High School. Remember to bring a blanket!

And Soccer?

Girls Soccer had a killer season this year, and their first playoff game is tomorrow, 6:00 at the BHS Stadium. Good luck girls! Boys soccer also had a pretty fantastic year, racking up only 5 losses out of 16 games. We’re not mathematicians, but those seem like pretty good odds…

Their playoffs start on Wednesday.

How about Crew?

Crew would seem a little chilly this time of year, but they’ve still got their Head of the Headless Race on Sunday. They also had their final regatta yesterday, and have had a relatively successful season – mostly due to the girls.

Field Hockey and Cross Country?

Field Hockey has already finished their regular season game. And as for Cross Country, they had a race on October 17th which was the last regular season race of this year. The JV Meet was last Friday, and their D1 Meet is on Saturday.

The Runaway…

Time to start putting away those pom-poms, and pulling out your jackets. Remember to sign up for Winter Sports now the fall season is over!

What to say…

When you want to inter during a session….

It may feel far away, but April is just around the corner. And April means…. intersession! The list of intersessions was posted last week (which can be viewed here) , and much to everyone’s surprise, international trips have been opened again, for the first time since Covid! There are a lot of other interesting looking options, from Snorkeling to Dollywood. Registration will open for Seniors tomorrow, at 8:00pm. Juniors are next, and will be able to register a week later on November 4th. Sophomores on the 8th, and Freshman on the 15th. Each grade has 3 days to register, and 5 days to pay. Reminder to all non-seniors to refresh the page after each previous registration window closes, that way you can re-assess if the one you were hoping for fills up. If none of the options catch your eye, or you have plans to travel that week, you may want to consider alternative intersession, which basically allows you to do whatever you want as long as you somehow connect it to the goal of intersession (it can be vague, it doesn’t really matter). Let the Hunger Games begin!

When you need some breaking news…

In Keene New Hampshire, about 65 minutes from our little town of Bedford, a small airplane crashed into a multi-family building with 8 residents – all of whom are uninjured but lost most of their possessions in the fire following the crash. Unfortunately, the 2 men in the plane (both of which had a pilot’s license), were killed. So far, no one has been able to uncover the reason for this crash, probably because the cockpit and both wings are practically nonexistent due to the raging fire. Obviously, something went very wrong very fast because the plane crashed only ⅛ of a mile from the end of the runway. Our condolences go out to the residents impacted, and the families of the pilots.

Things to Know…

If you don’t like drugs…

This week is Red Ribbon Week at school, so keep an eye out for some advisory activities.

If you’re a procrastinating smarty-pants…

IB and AP Exam registration closed yesterday, so if you haven’t registered, you’ll want to go see Mrs. Nichols ASAP.
