The Story

We’re switching things up.

Wait, what?

With the arrival of the new semester, there have been several ways that the school administration has offered to change our class schedules. For example, families have the option to switch to hybrid, go fully remote, or stay in their current arrangement.

That’s it?

Of course not. As you may know, the BHS administration oh so kindly asked for student and parent input about whether we wanted the A-K and L-Z class times to switch for the second semester. The results are in and over 70% of both sides voted for the times to stay the same. However, people somehow are still mad on FaceBook, despite the fact that they had the option to vote for a change and didn’t. Haters gonna hate.

What else?

At the last school board meeting, Jozokos shared several updates regarding the start of the semester, mainly the schedule for the week of MLK Day and changing the Phase 1b schedule for BHS in the phases of reopening.

What’s this?

Jozokos presented the idea of an advisory day on Tuesday 1/18 and then a “normal” (well, normal for this year) schedule for the rest of the week. This means that each grade will go into the building for advisory for two-ish hours on Tuesday, then Wednesday would follow a typical Red Wednesday schedule. Then, we would switch into our regular R1 and S1 on Thursday and Friday.

And the other thing?

Remember when we were supposed to switch schedules (again) in October? Turns out, everyone actually hated that plan and they’re starting from scratch! Jozokos suggested combining Phases 1b and 2a because they both have the same amount of people in the building at the same time and long story short, the board agrees. So we’ll see where that goes.

The Runaway

They’re really keeping us on our toes, aren’t they?

What to Say…

When HGTV isn’t pushing your real estate buttons enough…

Develop some more buildings, of course. Recently, it was announced that the Bank of New Hampshire is building another bank on South River Road. This establishment will be a replacement for the other Bank of New Hampshire bank on Wallace Road, which will be closing. As well as this, a new restaurant called Tucker’s will be opening in place of where Outback Steakhouse once was on South River Road. And, the old location of Canoe will be overtaken by Pressed Cafe, also on South River Road. Confused yet? We can barely keep it all straight.

When you’re starving for a sports update…

The NHIAA has posted a whole slew of regulations for basketball throughout the state to create a safe playing environment. These include getting rid of handshakes before and after the game, eliminating jump balls, sanitizing the officials table and the ball, maintaining social distancing whenever possible. They’ve also decided to suspend the requirement of mouthguards for this season. With this, of course, comes the all-too-familiar requirement of masks. Teams will also be limited to regional competition during the regular season, and who knows what will happen for playoffs.
